Airlines operate 3.8 million additional seats at Dubai International

Airlines at Dubai International Airport are operating an additional 3.84 million seats on flights during the last quarter of this year, compared to the same period last year, according to data from Cirium, which specializes in researching international airlines and airports.


According to data obtained by Emirates Today, the total number of scheduled seats on international flights at Dubai Airport, during the three months of this year, reached 14.8 million seats (29.6 million seats in two directions), compared to about 12.88 million seats (25.7 million seats in two directions). ) during the same period last year, with a growth rate of about 15%.


The data showed that the total number of seats scheduled during the fourth quarter of 2023 exceeded the levels of the same period in 2019, with a growth rate of 3%, with about 500,000 additional seats, at a rate of one million seats in two directions.


Dubai Airports confirmed that it is preparing for an exceptionally active period until the end of this year, and therefore it has revised its expectations for the total number of passengers for the current year to rise from 83.6 million to 85 million passengers.


Dubai is witnessing great momentum during the last quarter of this year, supported by the tourism and commercial movement in the emirate, as STR, a company specializing in hotel research, revealed to Emirates Today that nearly a third of hotel rooms in Dubai have already been booked within days. The first is for the Climate Conference and the Dubai Air Show, expecting that this demand will continue to increase as the launch of the two events approaches, with more international visitors coming to Dubai booking their accommodation in the emirate.


The company explained that the major events hosted by Dubai during the last quarter of this year, in addition to the coincidence of this period with the tourist season in the emirate, will contribute to raising the performance of hotels to new record levels, anticipating an exceptional performance in conjunction with the holding of the “COP 28” conference in the “city.” Expo Dubai” during the period from November 30 to December 12, 2023, in addition to the Dubai Air Show, scheduled for the period between November 13 and 17 next, in addition to New Year’s Day.


Dubai International Airport witnessed a significant recovery in travel traffic during the first half of this year, as passenger traffic during this period exceeded pre-pandemic levels in 2019, with the busiest airport in the world receiving 41.6 million passengers in the first half.


It is noteworthy that Dubai Airport connects to 257 destinations via 91 international airlines in 104 countries around the world.


Continuous rise


The data showed a continuous increase in the number of scheduled seats on international flights at Dubai International Airport with the resumption of air traffic in more destinations around the world, and the continued expansion of carriers operating at the airport, as well as the addition of more flights to existing destinations and the opening of new destinations.


The latest data from the Forward Keys group, which specializes in travel analytics, revealed a 20% growth in flight reservations to Dubai during the fourth quarter of this year compared to the same period last year.
